A Whiney Rant

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I've just been bummed out. So far so good with my lungs. The problem I'm still having is the pain in my pelvis down to my knees, in both legs. It won't be long before I go back to Duke, the 20th, so hopefully they can give me some answers. I'm tired of still feeling like an invalid. I can't exercise much because I can hardly walk so I feel like I'm not getting much out of it. I have these wonderful new lungs and I can't even enjoy them to the fullest. I want to go shopping, visiting friends, out to the movie, or just being able to walk at a normal pace instead of a snails. I know it will get better, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking "when this is fixed what else is going to fall apart". I'm thankful to be alive, but I'm still not living yet. I'll get there eventually.

Ok, I'm finished whining now, on to happier news. Christmas was great. Our family decided not to exchange gifts because of all the expenses we have all incurred due to me living in NC. I couldn't help myself and bought all of my family a Duke tshirt, lol! They were like "we said no presents" and I said "don't get excited, it's not much". I liked my newphew's the best. He's 2 and was so cute in his Duke tshirt.

Today I am looking forward to going out to eat with my family. We are going to Long's Fish House and I have been craving that place before we got home to MS. It has been open as long as I have been alive and it is the best. The coleslaw alone with crackers could be a meal in itself it is so good. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. Yummy!

Bright Sunny Day

It is so pretty outside. Sunny, no clouds, and I hear the temperature is nice. It would be even nicer if I could be out there in the sun, but noooo I'm still in the joint. The fluid is still draining. It has slowed down even more so maybe tomorrow will be the day.

Now I want to rant on getting my Nissen stomach wrap. Sure I understand that it will prevent me from having acid reflux, but no one told me it wouldn't prevent me from having heart burn. Also, I can't eat half of what I could eat before the surgery. If I do, my stomach just hurts! I'm hoping this is just because it is still healing since it's only been 10 days since surgery. I'm just stir crazy and ready to get out of the hospital!!!

VIP Treatment?

As the day wears on I am sitting here contemplating what does someone have to do or be to get VIP service when inpatient in a hospital. I understand there are many people more important than me, but at this hospital I should be considered a VIP patient everytime! I've been trying to get moved to another room since I arrived here Wednesday. I have been complaining about my room being HOT. I have never had a room quite like the sauna this one gets to be as the sun falls in the Western Sky and beams right into my room. I finally got one of the nurses to bring me a fan to help cool it off in here. For anyone who has ever had serious breathing problems knows what I mean when I say "my thermostat is stuck on high". I am always hot so when I'm sick and my breathing is even worse than normal I want to be somewhere COLD. This room is not it! My primary doctor came to see me this evening and checked to see about changing rooms (since there is no word on when I'll be getting out of here). Turns out, there are empty rooms on my floor, but no rooms "available" because there is a VIP on this floor. WTHeck? As many years as I have had to come up here to the doctor, stayed in the hospital, and how much money has this place made from my insurance companies over the years? Oh yeah, I think I should be considered a VIP. Can someone please block off the rooms around me so I won't be disturbed, lol!
